2019 Dupont-Columbia Awards Announced

Our investigative series “Drivers Under Siege” was honored with a 2019 DuPont-Columbia award, considered to be the broadcast Pulitzer.

 

Drivers Under Siege

This 2019 duPont-Columbia award-winning series exposed the alarming rise in violent attacks against AC Transit drivers in the Bay Area and led to safety changes at the local level. The reports also prompted California Congress members to introduce federal legislation to protect public transit operators nationwide. Not Words But Deeds

The documentary was the first of its kind by the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit, premiering January 12, 2019. The 30 minute, commercial free special is based on a 15 month continuous investigation into allegations of sexual abuse and reports that victims’ reports were covered up by the leadership of a Catholic girls school in San Jose.
